One Balloon Street is a creative third space in central Manchester, developed to support work, learning and social interaction. The brief was to create a brand that honoured the site’s connection to ballooning pioneer James Sadler, who lived on this very street, and captured the lightness, optimism and curiosity that define the space’s purpose.



Rooted in its name and narrative, the brand centres around a custom logotype where the double “O”s in “Balloon” are designed to remind viewers of classic hot air balloons.
This reference connects directly to Sadler’s pioneering legacy and is echoed in the building’s interior design, which subtly draws from the world of ballooning through tactile materials and structural detailing.
The animated logo brings the brand to life with gently expanding and contracting O’s that evoke breath, movement and a sense of uplift. These dynamic elements are used across digital platforms, signage and wayfinding to create a seamless and memorable brand experience.
A confident palette of Bright Orange, Midnight Green and Gold was developed from the interior scheme and applied across all brand touchpoints for standout impact. Paired with a softened version of La Nord, the typography adds warmth and clarity, reinforcing the brand’s human, forward-looking tone.
The result is a flexible and story-rich identity that celebrates exploration, expresses the uniqueness of the space and supports a vibrant community of people coming together to connect, collaborate and grow.
